Publication & Research Ethics

Research Ethics

Research submitted to the journal should be original, scientifically sound, and theoretically well-structured.

Research should adhere to the ethical standards outlined in the WMA Declaration of Helsinki if human subjects are involved (https://www.wma.net/policies-post/wma-declaration-of-helsinki-ethical-principles-for-medical-research-involving-human-subjects/ ).

For studies that require ethics committee approval, it is important to include information about the approval, such as the name, date, and number of the committee, in both the method section and on the title page of the article.

In accordance with international conventions, research protocols for experimental, clinical, and pharmaceutical studies, as well as some case reports, must be approved by an ethics committee. If the content of the research needs to be approved by a local Ethics Committee, the authors may be asked to provide a copy.

The authors conducting the study are responsible for protecting patient confidentiality. Patient informed consent forms should be available upon request and kept in the author's archive.

Authors should indicate whether they follow institutional and national standards for the care and use of laboratory animals in studies involving animal subjects.

Surgical Revolutions and Artificial Intelligence adopts ICMJE's definitions of authorship in its authorship criteria;

In the preparation of original research articles, authors are responsible for contributing significantly to the study's concept and design, data collection and analysis, critical review for important intellectual content, final approval of the version to be published, and resolving questions regarding the accuracy and completeness of the content.

https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/roles-and-responsibilities/defining-the-role-of-authors-and-contributors.html

The Acknowledgement of Authorship Form should be filled in the submission and the contributions of the authors should be clearly indicated in the relevant field (conceptualization, methodology, writing the article, data validation, data analysis, research and data improvement, original drafting, review and editing).

The corresponding author is the person who is responsible for communication with the journal during the manuscript submission, revision after peer review and approval of the final draft. All contributing authors are expected to follow the evaluation process of the manuscript in the online submission system.

Researchers who contributed without meeting the author criteria should be included in the acknowledgment section. Examples of contributions that are not sufficient for authorship include funding, writing assistance, technical editing, language editing, proofreading, etc.

Requests for change of authorship (name, author addition) are evaluated if submitted to the Editorial Board (publisher/journal address) with a letter signed by all authors. Author changes will not be made after publication.

Manuscripts that have been presented at a congress and whose abstract has been published can be accepted provided that the name, place and date of the organization are specified.

Similarity checks for all submitted manuscripts are checked using the iThenticiate program. Manuscripts with a similarity rate of maximum 20% can be considered for evaluation.

As a result of the review; if the methodology is the same or very similar, if the subjects or research population are very similar, if the results and interpretations are very similar to another study, they will not be accepted for publication.
